Welcome 2024 Deer Hunters!

​ The Standard Season for the 59th Annual Big Buck Contest and the 7th Annual Youth Buck Contest!
Licensed hunters in Fayette and bordering counties are welcome to enter.
Registrations are being accepted between Noon and 8:00 pm daily at the Cistern Country Store located at 12604 N State Hwy. 95, between Smithville and Flatonia at FM 2237. The registration fee is $20 for Adult and Youth Contests.
Youth and adult contests are for low fence hunting, with rifle or bow. Field dressed bucks must be brought to the Cistern Country Store for official measurements to qualify for prizes.
To kick off the season FREE KETTLE STEW will be served at 8pm Friday, November 1st . Hunters and their families are welcome. Contest registrations will be taken up until midnight November 1st .

ADULT CONTEST SPECIFICS:

  1. Adult registration deadline is Friday November 1, 2024.
  2. Adult season: November 2, 2024 – January 5, 2025.
  3. There are three cash winner categories:
    1) Most Points
    2) Widest Inside Spread
    3) Heaviest
  4. All registration money becomes the prize money, except for $30 per deer brought in for measurement, which is paid to the official.

YOUTH CONTEST SPECIFICS:

  1. Youth registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 24 th , 2024.
  2. Youth Season: October 25-27, 2024 and Nov. 2 – Jan. 19, 2025.
  3. The total sum of youth registration fees will be given for prizes. Officials fees will not be withheld from the youth contest.
  4. Winners will be determined by: number of points + inside spread + length of the longest tine on either side of middle main beam = their score.
  5. Prize awards:
    – One winner for 10 or less entries.
    – Two winners for 11 or more.
    If score is a tie, the longest tine, on either side of the middle main beam will determine the winner.
  6. Cash prize distribution if there are two winners:
    – First Place 60%
    – Second Place 40%
